The Washington Township Historical Society will be awarding a scholarship to a graduating high school senior living in the township and planning to either attend a two year or a four year college, or a university, in the fall of 2016.
The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student who plans to pursue a history related major, has demonstrated an interest in history on the local or regional lever, or who has completed a project directly benefiting the Washington Township Historical Society. The applicant must include a 400-500 word essay demonstrating the student’s interest in history while a high school student. The format and quality of this essay will be taken into consideration.
West Morris Central High School seniors can obtain applications at the school’s guidance department. Student seniors not attending West Morris should request an application by writing the Washington Township Historical Society, Att.: Ms. Eleanor Taormina, P.O. Box 189, Long Valley , NJ 07853, or by calling (908) 876-9696 to request an application and/or for information.
The deadline for applications from students outside of the West Morris Central High School is April 2016.
