Step Into the Past: Washington Township’s Historic Evening Cemetery Tour Returns

Mark your calendar for a captivating evening of history and storytelling on Saturday, October 25, as the Washington Township Historical Society presents its Historic Evening Cemetery Tour. Take a lantern-lit walk through the past and meet the voices of Germany Valley residents from 250 years ago.

As you journey through the historic cemetery, meet costumed re-enactors who bring to life the voices of Germany Valley residents from 250 years ago. Hear firsthand accounts from citizens who shaped our community. New characters from our previous tour!

Tours begin at 5:30 PM and run through 8:00 PM, with timed entry slots available through advance ticket reservations. Additional details about ticketing and time slot selection will be available to purchase and select later this summer.

In the event of rain, the tour will be rescheduled for Sunday, October 26 at 5:30 PM, with Saturday’s reservations honored.

• Advance Tickets (available for purchase here and through the Washington Township Historical Society Museum): Adults – $15 | Children under 12 – $5
• Day-of Tickets (if available): Adults – $20 | Children under 12 – $10

Please note: Due to uneven terrain, tours are not suitable for individuals using wheelchairs, walkers, or strollers. Don’t miss this unique chance to walk among history!

Location: Union Schoolhouse and Union Church Cemetery 6 Fairview Avenue, Long Valley

Parking: Parking is available at Zion Lutheran Church, 11 Schooley’s Mountain Road, Long Valley. Police will be stopping traffic to permit patrons to walk across Schooley’s Mountain Road to the WTHS museum and old Union Church Cemetery at 6 Fairview Avenue. Plan to arrive 15 minutes in advance of your tour start.
