The Impacts of the American Revolution on the Civilian Population in Morris County

May 24, 2025 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Presentation by Eric Olsen: National Park Ranger/Historian, Morristown National Historical Park

Morris County was considered a safe location during the American Revolution. But there was no way the local people could avoid being impacted by the war. Politics divided the population. Washington’s army marched through and camped all over the area. Soldiers needed shelter, food, and firewood. Sometimes they paid, other times they just took.

Morristown National Historical Park’s historian, Eric Olsen will explain the impacts of the war on the population as audience members take on the characters of some of local people who suffered for American Independence.

This presentation is sponsored by the Washington Township Historical Society free of charge.
